Hi! My name is Rachel Beach (hence the name BeachCraft Arts). By day, I work in data and program evaluation for a San Francisco youth-serving nonprofit. I get my math and computer fix there and then come home to play in the mud.
I first took a ceramics class at a rec center in 2006 and after a couple of months managed to make a few small bowls that didn't have cracks in them. Since then I have dabbled in ceramics here and there but it really stuck around 2016 and since then I've grown my skills tremendously. I'm so passionate about creating. Going to the studio, getting my hands dirty, molding new creations and feeling the excitement of seeing how a final piece turns out has been a huge joy and a great part of maintaining my mental health and wellness.
The great thing about ceramics is that you can create art that has utility and I love that so many of the things I use in my home are pieces I can say I made myself! However, there are only so many mugs and bowls and vases that I can justify having and at this point, even my mom has more than she needs. But I'm certainly not going to stop creating so now I send my work out into the world to give others the joy of having that special piece, handmade with love, connecting people in the community.
Thank you for visiting my site. I am genuinely humbled by your interest in supporting artists and by the fact that I can be counted among them.
